Day 1
Our first day in Baja will be a long one, approximately 210 miles, so we must head out early in the morning. We can grab a quick light breakfast at the hotel bar, and then some tacos at the border when we cross into Tecate. The ride to the border starts with a highway ride out of town, and into the valley where the road through the canyon gets very fun. We will do another 20 miles of highway to get to the park entrance, here is 60 miles of very fun dirt riding. The road is well traveled and has a lot of loose sand with a few sections of some 4 inch deep sand. Nothing super challenging, just a very fast ride! We will keep on riding down towards Mike’s Sky Rancho, the last 20 miles being a little bit more challenging as the road sees a lot of off road traffic. We will end our night at the famous lodge where the steak is great, and the lights go off at 10pm.
day 2
A shorter day but more dirt, what more can we ask for? We will ride back out the same way we came in for 6 miles before heading NW towards Valle de Trinidad. We will gas up if needed and then head through La Calentura Canyon, this hard packed gravel canyon is a fun ride with some cliffs on the sides. Fuel on the other side along with an ice cream if the heat rises. We will continue on north on a short loop up towards the pacific coast, a stop at Coyote Cals for a beer and a chat before continuing south along the coast. Pending road condition we will continue via the dirt road or take the highway section to our nice hotel outside of town. About 160 or so miles today.
day 3
Today is our chance to take it easy, or rip it up on the beach for a few miles before heading south towards our next hotel in the middle of nowhere Baja! Catavina is a famous place known for its solitude and beautiful boulder fields. Tomorrow will be a longer dirt ride, so you get to ride more dirt or take an easy day and ride the highway all the way to our hotel. But I highly recommend at least riding along the beach with us, a fun race is always had.
day 4
What could be our most challenging day yet, 121 miles of amazing dirt riding. This section can get beat up by racers, hurricanes, or rain. If it’s wet, we will not ride this section as part of the route goes through a massive dry lake bed that is all MUD when wet. The section resembles a lot of what we have already ridden, with a few sections of deeper sand, but not unpassable. As well as one or two loose hill climbs and descends. We have not ridden this section in a few years, but i think it’s about time we do. Once we hit pavement, we got 40 miles to our hotel. This one section can also be skipped if you aren’t feeling it, but don’t worry, tomorrow will be another great day!
day 5
My favorite section of Baja for riding the big adventure bikes! Today is a full 160+ miles of fast dirt roads. This section used to be rough, but with the growth of the ranches inside this valley, it has brought a lot of traffic and maintenance. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts! If we flow good, we can take some time to take a dip in the sea of cortez. If you book early we can get the best hotel option in town, so please lock your spot early so that we can enjoy the best of Baja.
day 6
A long day today, unfortunately it will be mostly highway. But to make it fun, we will do about 60 miles of some very challenging riding. Mostly due to a Hurricane that hit this area a couple years ago, it washed the roads away and dropped a lot of sand on the route. This one will be a great section to struggle a little bit and have a blast! It can’t be an ADV ride if we don’t make it a little difficult right? Highway for the next 170 miles to land on the sleepy town of San Felipe on the coast of the sea of cortez.
day 7
Our last day of the tour, it will be a longer one, mostly highway but finishing it up with a great section. El Compadre Trail is about 60 miles of very fast riding, with 2-3 sections of two track sand. These sections can be 100yds and 6+ inches of sand, sometimes the traffic cleans it up. But just ride the track and you can flow right through it. At the end of this tour, you will handle this kind of road like its nothing! I guarantee it. We will grab a few final Tacos before crossing back to California and saying goodbye. Some of us will head back downtown to pack the bikes up and catch a flight home.
If you have any question, fill out a form and grab a spot.
Thanks
